The Journey

Deliverance Church Umoja was founded on 20th May 1984. After a week of crusades and outreach in the neighbourhood, we had our first Sunday service under a tent pitched in an open field next to Umoja market, under the leadership of Pastor J.B. Masinde. Forty families from DC Eastleigh had volunteered to pioneer the ministry with him.

Two and a half years later, the congregation to the site of our main campus in Umoja Innercore. Now we have grown into One Congregation in Multiple locations, opening two more campuses on Kangundo Road and in Umoja 3.

Building The Body of Christ

DCIU has been and still is a going and sending church.  Since our first church-plant in Kitwii, Machakos County, we have been directly involved in planting hundreds of churches both locally and internationally. To name a few, DCI church-plants in and around Nairobi: Karagita, Mwiki, Donholm, KCC, Kagundo Road, Ngong Road, Kyumbi. We have also planted many churches in Kitui, Kangundo, Mwalla, Kathiani, Athi River, Kitengela, Ngong and Kiserian. We were involved in planting Deliverance Church in Lusaka, Zambia from which forty churches have now been planted, including five in Congo DRC. Some of the church plants we have been involved in are not a part of Deliverance Church family because we believe we have been called to build and strengthen the body of Christ.

Evangelistic teams from DCIU are active in missions to schools, colleges, prisons, hospitals, Operation Rudi Nyumbani, and Operation Hapa Hapa.  Many DCIU members are also effective ministers serving God in the marketplace, in the public and private sector.  International doors have opened to teams from this church to the USA, the UK, the Nordic countries, Zambia, Rwanda, Uganda among others.

Transforming The Community

Apart from church planting, DCIU has also initiated several special ministry projects/activities to address needs of its members and its community of residence.

  • The King’s School, Nairobi – a private primary school
  • The King’s Bible College – a theological school to equip kingdom ambassadors to minister in all walks of life
  • The Doulos School of Excellence – a leadership program that mentors, equips and prepares teens for life after high-school.
